BetaBloom Newsletter #3

By Tommy · May 18, 2026

There are now 165 published products and 422 improvement suggestions across BetaBloom. That's 15 new products and 64 new suggestions since the previous newsletter 11 days ago. The "top of funnel" (new users/products) has slowed and I've been working on a system to improve that. However, I've noticed other serious issues that need attention and I'm knocking them out as quickly as I'm able.

Latest Updates:

  • Platform Feedback – You can now make improvement suggestions for BetaBloom itself. I had created a platform for product feedback but didn't give the community a way to give me feedback. This came to a tipping point when AM Intel from the community started putting feedback for me into random products. He got my attention and I've fixed the issue. Give BetaBloom feedback: Platform Feedback.
  • Custom Logos – You can now add a custom logo to your product. Go to your product page and click Edit. Historically, you could only set an emoji for your product. This shows up next to your product name in the feed and also on the detail page. This was one of the platform suggestions that came from AM Intel.
  • Live App Reviews – These live app reviews have been the best outreach method for bringing new founders into BetaBloom. I've made them even better by creating a page for these reviews to live, rather than simply linking people to a YouTube video. The video is now embedded into a BetaBloom review page; each product has a list of action items and the product owner can easily publish their product on BetaBloom in a couple clicks. Here is the first of such reviews with the new system: App Reviews (5/15/2026)

New Issues Discovered:

  • Product Creation Friction – 64% of people who start the product creation process are dropping off before they publish their product. I believe this is due to friction in the authentication step which occurs between entering product details and saving a draft. I've been using Replit Auth and I'm going to look into alternatives to streamline this step. I'll follow up with changes and results.
  • Community Feedback Slowing – I had a goal of ensuring that 50% of all people with a published product had also given at least 1 piece of feedback to another product in the community. All-time it's at 44% and it's been going down lately. If people are not giving feedback to others, the entire community falls apart. I'm looking for ways to better motivate people to engage with other products in the community. I may go as far as making it a requirement to be published. Stay tuned for updates.
